Obituary of Katherina Frengou
Katherina Frengou, 98, of Akron, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Manor
Care of Akron.
Born in Florina, Greece, Katherina lived in Akron since she immigrated to
the United States in 1949. Katherina was a loving and giving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by all who had the joy of
knowing her. She was a great homemaker who loved cooking, baking and took
much pride in her flower garden. She also was very proud of her
accomplishment when she became an American citizen. We will miss her greatly
but she will always be in our hearts and minds.
Katherina was preceded in death by her husband, Elias; loving
granddaughter, Kathy; sister, Domna Malkova; and brothers, Kostandine,
Glegory and Panayoti Tsilkas. Her survivors include son and daughter-in-law,
Lazar and Dorothy Frengou; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Jack Clement;
grandchildren, Jerry and wife Karen Frengou of Gahanna, Ohio and Rebecca
Clement and husband Patrick Corless of New Jersey; great-grandchildren, Alex
and Brian Frengou and Emma, Olivia and Juliet Corless; brother, Vasili
(Magda) Tsilkas of Canada; sisters, Olga (Christo) Sourlis and Shena Gogis
of Greece; sister-in-law, Mara Tsilkas of Macedonia; and many loving nieces
and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and
appreciation to the loving and compassionate nurses, aides and staff of
Manor care who have cared for our mother with respect and dignity. They have
become our extended family.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, 555
S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. where Katherina will lie in state one hour prior
to services. Rev. Fr. James Wright officiating. Interment at Rose Hill
Burial Park. Calling hours Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz
Funeral Home, PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS: 1990 S. MAIN ST. where a Parastas
service will be held at 7 p.m. If friends desire, memorials may be made to
