Obituary of Steve Evancho

Steve Evancho, 88, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007. He was born in Pleasant City, Ohio and retired from Ohio Brass after 38 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during World War II and was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He was Past National President of the Orthodox Square Club and was also a member of the Civil Conservation Corps. (CCC). Mr. Evancho was an avid gardener and animal lover who enjoyed the outdoors--especially Muscrat trapping. He was a tax preparer and had his own income tax service where he helped many people free of charge. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen (Stasko) Evancho; six brothers; and six sisters. He is survived by wife, Leanora; sons, Philip S. (Gale) and S. Mark (Carol); sisters, Pauline Juhasz, Magdaline Evancho and Thelma (John) Kozar; and grandchildren, Anya R. (Capt. Anthony) Freude, Nicholas, David and Alicia Evancho. Divine Liturgy will be held Thursday, 9 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where Steve will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Wyslutsky and Very Rev. Fr. Don Anthony Freude officiating. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery. The family will receive friends TONIGHT, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, NEW ADDRESS: 1990 S. Main St. in Akron where a Parastas service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 S.
