Obituary of Nicola Kostuik

Nicola "Chico" Kostiuk passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2007 at Arbors of Canton. Born March 14, 1919 in Kolomeya, Ukraine. Nicola was an Akron area resident since 1961, when he arrived from Venezuela to achieve his American dream. He was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church and retired from Akron Equipment Co. in 1973. Nicola in his healthier and younger days was an avid polka and mariachi music aficionado. Preceded in death by wife Paraskevia (1975), he is survived by son Roman and wife Mary T.; granddaughters Gloria (Craig) Gates of Cleveland and Nancy M. Kostiuk of Cuyahoga Falls. He is also survived by sister Hanusha and family is Ukraine. Many thanks to the staff of Fresenius of Green and the Arbors of Canton for their caring service. The family will receive friends Tuesday 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with a Panakhyda service at 10:30 a.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN ADDRESS). Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fr. Ignatuis Kury officiating. Interment at 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Cemetery, Parma.
