Obituary of Stefan Schler
Stefan (Steve) Schler, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007 after a courageous battle with several illnesses.
He was born in Croatia in 1930 and was married to his sweetheart Magdelena for 57 years. In 1962 with his wife, three children and one suitcase, he came to America in pursuit of a better life for his family. (He succeeded.) A retired mold maker, he always enjoyed his craft and the many friends he met along the way. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the German Family Society where he enjoyed the dance group which performed in various cities. "Opa", as he was known by his grandchildren was very good with his hands and enjoyed yardwork and feeding the birds.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother; and leaves behind his wife, Magdelena; daughter, Brigitte; sons, Steve (Mary Anne) and Josef (Tina); grandchildren, Jackie, Joey and Cory; and sister, Rosi of Germany.
"As we move on, time will never diminish the wonderful memories of our beloved husband, father and Opa".
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Cremation to follow. The family will receive friends Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, NEW ADDRESS- 1990 S. Main St.-Akron.
