Obituary of David G. Phillips
David G. Phillips, 60, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007.
He was born in Akron and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He retired from the Department of Human Services of Summit County and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Dave was a life member of Firestone VFW 3383 and a member of the Barberton Moose, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Croatian Club. He was an avid musician and enjoyed Tambouritza music. He also enjoyed cooking and fishing.
He is survived by his father, Anthony M.; son, Nick (Traci) of Barberton; daughter, Ann of Norton; brother, John of Las Vegas; sister, Barbara Knezevich of Akron; former wife, Eileen - (fiance, Tom Clark) Phillips of Norton; several nieces and nephews; dog, Lucy; and cat, Blackjack.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 8:30 a.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd. in Akron and at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenmore. Fr. Michael B. Smith officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. The family will receive friends TONIGHT from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
