Obituary of Margaret Lee Martin

Margaret Lee Martin, 89, of Tallmadge passed away October 18, 2007 at Falls Village Retirement Community. She was born May 12, 1918 in Belington, West Virginia, daughter of James Loren Harrah and Mary Susan (Corkrean) Harrah. She was one of 11 brothers and sisters. Margaret graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School on June 5, 1936. She attended Bankes Business School for a short time before she began to work at Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company. She began working at First National Bank in 1948 and held various positions with the bank before retiring in 1983, a career she enjoyed very much. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; all her brothers and sisters; her first husband, Roger Hofer in 1947; second husband, Joseph Martin in 1999; and by her eldest son, Richard E. Hofer in 2002. Surviving are daughter, Janice Guy of Wooster, Ohio; sons, Roger of Medina, Ohio and Robert A. Martin of Romeo, Michigan; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Hofer of Tallmadge, Ohio and Patricia Martin of Romeo, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed her friends, playing cards-especially bridge, traveling and ceramics. She deeply loved her family and will be missed by them. Calling hours will be Sunday, October 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home, 247 Stow Ave. (corner of 3rd St. & Stow Ave.) in Cuyahoga Falls. A Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will be held Monday, October 22 at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls. Rev. Stephen Gehlert and Rev. Mark Steiner officiating. Burial will occur at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ.
