Obituary of George Lorko

George J. Lorko, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Wyant Woods Care Center. George was born April 4, 1918 to John and Vera (Estock) Lorko in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed by BF Goodrich Tire and Rubber Co. for over 37 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and a member of Jednota Branch 553. He faithfully served our country as a Sergeant in the US Army during WW II. George was a loving and caring man who seldom complained and kept his sense of humor even in his later years. He enjoyed helping the nuns at St. Paul Catholic Church in Akron and helped with the sets for an opera put on by the nuns and students at St. Paul. George loved the water. He enjoyed fishing and water skiing and even built his own boat from scratch. George is survived by his beloved daughter Darlene (Dolly) Lorko; sister-in-law Josephine Zombek and brother-in-law Oscar Hayes; nieces Danielle Zombek and Sandy Beros; nephews Richard Zombek and Michael Beros. In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 1986; his brother John and sister Elizabeth. Funeral services will be held Monday TIME AND PLACE TO BE ANNOUNCED. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 5 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S.
