Obituary of Tessie Koukies

Tessie Koukis Tessie Koukis, age 88, peacefully joined Paul, her loving husband of 54 years, on Monday August 6, 2007. She was surrounded by her family: her loving and devoted daughters Elaine (Gust) Callitsis of Massillon; Mary Ann Milo of Jackson Township; Paulette Gonis of Akron; and Cindy (John) Dennis of Mechanicsburg, OH; 10 grandchildren who knew her lovingly as Yiayia - Mike (Michelle), Paul (Melissa), and Steve (Kathleen) Callitsis, Lori Milo, Barry (Karen) and George Gonis, Maria (Todd) Wagner, Jennifer and Joe Dennis and Katie (Brian) Glenn and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ethel Larsen of California and Alex Panagopoulos of Akron. Tessie is preceded in death by her parents, brother Pete, sister Jane, husband Paul Koukis and treasured grandson John Dennis III. After retiring from A&P Grocery Co., the family moved to Massillon from Cuyahoga Falls. She previously lived in Akron. Tessie was gracious and kind to everyone she met. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Altercare of Noble Pond in North Canton where Tessie received wonderful care for the past year. Tessie was a member at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Akron and St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 pm at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home 95 W. Waterloo Rd., where a Trisayios will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where Tessie will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Fr. Jerry Hall officiating.
