Obituary of Vesta Koteff
Vesta (Nicola) Koteff was born May 1, 1922 and passed away Monday, August 13, 2007. Vesta was born in Najople, Macedonia to Sotir and Anastasia Yoskova Nicola. The family immigrated to the U.S. April 5, 1926 aboard the largest ship in the world, SS-Leviathan. In 1949 she married Dimiter Koteff and settled in Akron until this year when she moved to Fleming Island, Florida in February 2007.
Preceded in death by her parents Sotir and Anastasia, stepfather Vasil Naumoff, husband Dimiter Koteff, brother Mitch Nikola, and sister Fanny Christ. She is survived by her sister Olga Chicodreff of Akron and stepbrother Alex Naumoff of Orville. Vesta is also survived by her only daughter, Mary Ann Steinkirchner, son-in-law Bill of Fleming Island, Florida. Granddaughters Loraine and Sedira Steinkirchner, great granddaughter Saunier, many nieces and nephews.
Vesta was a prolific baker, ethnic dancer, a Macedonian bon vivant whirling her way through life compiling many friends. Everyone was Vesta's best friend. Vesta had a knack of bringing people together in an unselfish way and brought a rare combination of life and joy in everything she did. Vesta was very active in many organizations including Saint Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church, St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, Philoptochos Society at the Greek Annunciation Church and Firestone Park Prime Timers. She worked at Sun Rubber, Firestone Tire & Rubber and the Summit County Court House, Clerk of Courts, where she retired after 20 of years of service.
Calling hours will be Monday, August 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Parastas service at 6 p.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Road. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, 555 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road where Vesta will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Fr. James N. Wright officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Road. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association or to St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church.
