Obituary of Helen Esakov

Helen Esakov, 82, passed away July 31, at Akron General Medical Center. Born July 27, 1925 in Akron, Helen had been a lifetime area resident. She was a 1943 graduate of South High School and was employed by the Akron Public Schools as a school secretary, retiring in 1980. Helen was an active member of Akron's Serbian Eastern Orthodox Community, as well as the Srpska Zenska Zadruga, and the Serb National Federation. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Michael, in 1999, parents Branko and Julia Stokich, and brothers Stephen and Melvin Stokich. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael Douglas and Janice of Inman, SC and David Lewis and Sandy of Akron; daughters and son-in-law Dianne and James Brunner of North Canton and Julie Esakov of Akron; grandchildren Michael David (Deidra) Esakov, Leslie (Gary) Skybo, Nicoletta (Carl) Peoples, Andrew and Lauren Brunner, and David Michael, Ellen, Emily, and Elizabeth Esakov; great-grandchildren Mackenzie Esakov, Virginia Skybo, and Mitchell Peoples; brother Lewis Stokich of Akron and sister Millicent Stokich, also of Akron; brothers-in-law George and Charles (Pat) Esakov and sisters-in-law Marlene Stokich and Sophie Stokich; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 pm at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home 95 W. Waterloo Rd. Fr. Don Fruede officiating. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11-1 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to The I.O.C.C. P.O.
