Obituary of Karl Frederick Harnack

Karl Frederick Harnack, 80, passed away July 5, at Akron City Hospital. Born in Akron in 1926, Karl had been a lifetime area resident. He was employed as a salesman for PPG, retiring in 1991 with 26 years of service. Karl was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls. He served his country as a member of The US Navy during WWII. Karl was a member of both the VFW Ralph Huff Post #1062 and The American Legion Charles Faust Post #281. Karl was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling to Michigan on fishing trips. He also was a football and baseball official for many years. Karl was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Audrey Harnack; son Thomas and daughter Caroline; grandaughter Christa Stanley. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Esther of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters and sons-in-law Audrey and Charles Lutz of Atwater, Diana Gerber of Cuyahoga Falls, Karla and Robert Bonora of Las Vegas, and step-daughter Cynthia Jeney of St. Joseph, MO; sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Roger Brislinger of Logan, OH; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8 pm at The McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home (at 3rd st., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 2:00 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Fifth St. in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, where military honors will be given.
