Obituary of Marie Wooley

Marie E. Wooley (Genda), 73, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 at the VNS Hospice Care Center. She was born January 18, 1934 and spent her whole life in Akron, Ohio. She was a 1951 graduate of Garfield High School and went to work for the Akron Dime Bank where she met husband of 52 years, Richard. Following a time at Keller Trucking, she began her own company DuJo'r Trucking and was a co-owner of 3 Sister's Bridal Shop. Marie was devoted to her husband, her children and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she leaves her sons Charles, Richard (Jill), and Robert; daughters Ellen Wooley and Lisa (John) Fiala; grandchildren Angela (Ryan) Smith, Jack Fiala, Landry, Lilly, and Meredith Wooley; great grandchild Matthew Smith; sister Mildred Duhon; sisters-in-law Irene Genda, Donna Genda, Pat Saunders Barnes Many nieces, nephews and devoted friends; and was preceded in death by parents Daniel and Frances Genda; brothers Paul, William, and Tom Genda and Michael Filipovic; sister Teresa Koneck; brothers-in-law Albert Koneck, Andrew Duhon, and Tom Saunders; sisters-in-law Betty Genda, Rose Mary Genda, Evelyn Saunders and Mary Thorn; great granddaughter Julia Marie Smith. She was very active politically, socially and throughout the community. She had worked on campaigns for Don Plusquellic and Ray Kapper, was past president of Garfield High School and Voris Elementary and was a big fan of the Indians, Browns and Cavs. Marie's life was devoted to her faith. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, an important link in St. Paul Prayer Line and volunteered with the Sorrowful Mothers Funeral Luncheon Group. Funeral services will be held Monday 10:30 am at the Kucko-Anthony- Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd. and 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday 3 to 7pm at the funeral home, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00pm.
