Obituary of Helen 'Lela' Lontchar

Helen 'Lela' (Shatrich) Lontchar, 92, went to her Savior Jesus Christ joining her beloved husband, Louis and son Mark on June 30, 2012. Helen was born August 11, 1919 to Gavra and Savka (Frankovch) Shatrich in Akron and had been an Akron area resident her entire life. Helen was a lifetime member of St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church, a member of the church choir, the Circle of Serbian Sisters (Kolo Srpska Sestara) and the St. Demetrius Mothers Club. She worked many jobs in her life most recently at Firestone Country Club Social Service of the Club Membership and Guys Party Center. In addition to her beloved husband of 57 years, Louis and very dear son, Mark , Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Dan and Milan (Monk) Shatrich and sisters Irene Tokich and Olga Musarra. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her sons Daniel and Michael; daughter-in-law Cheryl; brother-in-law Jim Mussara; sisters-in-law Harriet (Cosie) and Betty Shatrich; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church, 3106 Ridgewood Road Akron, OH 44313, where her body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
