Obituary of Mary K. Nemath

Mary Nemath, 98, went to the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday May 23, 2007 at Heatherknoll Care Center. She was born August 26, 1908 in Vukovar, Austria-Hungary to Julius and Barbara (nee Hegadus) Kloszak and came to the United States and Akron in 1920. She was employed by Pflueger's for over 23 years retiring in 1969. Mary's life revolved around her faith, her family and her church. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was twice president of the St. John Ladies Guild, former president of the Altar and Rosary Society, served on the Parish Council and was a member of St. john Study Club for over 40 years. She was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women, past president of their Summit Deanery and was named NCCW Woman of the Year in 1988. She was a past president of Lenora Hall and had volunteered with St. Thomas Hospital Guild for 40 years. She was a life member of the Ohio PTA and a member of the German American Club. She visited the Cleveland Diocese Mission in El Salvador at the age of 70 and was instrumental in arranging for future NCCW donations to be sent to relieve the terrible conditions of the poor in that country. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1968; daughter Norma Murray in 1999; grandson James Bennett in 1998; sister Suzanne Botz in 1999; and is survived by her grandchildren Steven Bennett of Yellow Springs, Ohio and Barbara Bennett of Lockhart, Ohio; great grandchildren Jeffery Alan and Gregory James Bennett; niece Rita Gowan. The family will receive friends Thursday 4 to 7pm at The Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home 95 W. Waterloo Rd, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00pm. Funeral services will begin Friday at 9:30 am at the funeral home and will continue at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to The St. John the Baptist Church or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
