Obituary of Charles Edwin Hulmes
GREEN - Charles (Chuck) E. Hulmes, 86, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Bath Creek Estates.
Charles was born June 26, 1927 to Charles and Doris (McIntire) Hulmes in Kent, Ohio and has been a Green resident for 40 years. He was employed as a machinist by White Motors and Schreiber but was known world-wide as an expert aircraft engine rebuilder. The FAA would contact him for detailed knowledge of engine mechanics. He had a private plane pilots license and flew his own planes as well. He was in the Merchant Marines during WWII.
Charles was survived by his wife Lillian; children David (Judy) Hulmes, Barbara (Pete) Conte, Jinni (John) Tuggle, Virginia (Les) Dewey, Sherry (Ron) Schramm and Mario Swesey; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren, good friend Don Helmick; and his dog Maggie Mae. He was preceded in death by his son Robert, sister Alice and great grandsons Leslie Dewey and Noah Schramm and his beloved friend Rusty.
The family is especially grateful to Dr. Schukay and his staff for their care of Charles.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 to 1 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd. (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads. Entrance off of Steese Rd.) and will be followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greensburg Cemetery. Donations may be made to MRDD Southern Center.
