I am sorry to hear of her passing. I remember her class vividly; she was a good teacher who made learning fun; she also introduced me to the dessert, the Baked Alaskan, when she made it in our class.

Even though I've not seen Mrs. Froebe since my time at Innes, she left a lasting impression on me. I moved here from Michigan middle of 7th grade. That was a hard year for me and she truly made it better with her caring. She helped me thru a time of adjustment when I needed it. She made the cooking class SO much fun! I enjoy cooking to this day because of her and I still have her popcorn ball recipe! Praying for your family in this time of loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. What fond memories I have of Mrs. Froebe, our home economics teacher beginning in 1959! She was so down-to-earth and kind. She taught us how to cook everyday food, and to be frugal. My family enjoyed using her recipes for many years. Back then, I had no idea she was just starting out. She influenced so many students in a positive way. Blessings on your family in your time of grief.

Mrs. Froebe was a terrific teacher in that she made home economics "cool," or at least tolerable, to young teen boys, which is fairly a miracle in itself. She was unfailingly patient and funny and kept things interesting. I believe my four older sisters had her as well, and their high regard for her I soon discovered was well placed. I remember few teachers in my school journey being as respected and beloved. I think I speak for my sisters when I wish all comfort to her family. Hers was a professional life richly lived and expertly modeled.

Mrs. Froebe was a gem of a teacher. I don't know of any student who didn't love her, who had her for Home Economics (cooking) class. The worse punishment I ever knew her to give a student was to clean a stove/oven after school. She never seemed to lose her patience or have a temper or even raise her voice. She had a fixating, permanent smile. The only time I saw displeasure with her was when she said she gave an F to a group of students who made their candid apples green instead of red. I suppose she wanted to teach the students to follow the recipe exact and not change ingredients, or in this case coloring. I too have all of my recipes that Mrs. Froebe gave us and taught us how to make, including Snickerdoodles!
