Obituary of William Edward Myers
William 'Bill' Edward Myers, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 23, at the age of 87.
Born in Akron on March 3, 1926 to the late Edward & Margaret Myers, Bill had been an area resident for most of his life. He was a graduate of Kenmore High School. Bill retired as a rubber worker in 1982 after 38 years, from the Firestone Tire Rubber Co. He served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII, including post-war occupation service in Japan. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Firestone Park. Bill, an avid golfer and bowler, was very active at many area golf courses and bowling alleys throughout the years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Eileen (Oser); sons Mike (Pam) Myers of Akron & James (Glenn Rehagen) Myers of St. Louis; grandchildren Brian (Kelly) Myers of Winchester, VA & Christopher Myers of Akron; cousins Marie Glendon of Cuyahoga Falls & Eileen Hughes of CA.
A funeral service will take place on Friday at 12:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St, where the family will receive friends starting at 10:00 am until the start of the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul School Endowment Fund 1580 Brown St. Akron, OH 44301.
