Obituary of Lawrence J. 'Shorty' Bohm

Lawrence Bohm, 94, passed away on May 6, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley surrounded by family. Born in Akron on August 18, 1918 to the late Frank & Therezia Bohm, Larry had been a lifetime area resident. He was employed as a machinist for 47 years at Babcock & Wilcox, retiring in 1983. Larry served our country as a member of the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Barberton Moose Lodge #759. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to bowl. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Virginia and siblings Frank, Matt (Marie), Joe (Eunice), Paul, & Helen Bertison (Al). He is survived by his children Mike Bohm & Star Poling; grandchildren Joe Popio (Laurie), Tracy Popio & Monica (Bob) Cunningham, Nicki (Rob) Guidof, Michael & Chance Bohm, as well as 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful nursing and medical staff at AGMC and friend, Beth Rowe. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 12:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Akron.
