Obituary of Ann Marie Segedy
After a long, difficult and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis, Ann Marie went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ann Marie was born August 29, 1945 to Anthony L. and Bette H. Destro in Sault Ste. Marie, MI and had been an Akron resident for most of her life. She was a 1963 graduate of St. Vincent High School and the University of Akron in 1967 with a degree in English. She married Alan G. Segedy February 4, 1967. She was employed as school teacher at St. Vincent from 1969-70 and as a social worker for Summit County Welfare from 1970-72. God called her to a different vocation with the births of her children.
Anne Marie was 'a gift from God and the love of his life' to her husband of 46 years Alan Segedy; she was a wonderful loving mother to her sons Jason (Colleen), Adrian (Kelley), Christian (Katie) and Jesse Segedy; she treasured her grandchildren Emma Segedy, Gabriel Loree and Benjamin Segedy. She is also survived by her mother Bette H. Destro and brother Robert (Brenda) Destro and their children Gina and Mark; sister Elizabeth Jeanne Destro; sister-in-law Helen Elefritz and her children James (Patricia) and Richard: was preceded in death by her father Anthony Destro and brother-in-law James Elefritz Sr.
Ann Marie loved reading, spending time with her husband, her many friends & loved ones, but her greatest passion serving her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Calvary Chapel of Akron. She was active with & passionate about "Right to life" and "Jews for Jesus" organizations.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:00 am at Christ Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro St., Hudson, OH 44236. Pastors Paul Wides, Christ Community Chapel & Brad Pietzcker, Calvary Chapel of Akron will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron. The family will receive friends TODAY from 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron.
