Obituary of Rosalia Luc

Rosalia "Babcia" (Ukrainiec) Luc, 91, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Maison Aine. Rosalia, one of 8 children was born in 1925 on Christmas Day in Busowysko, Ukraine to Michael and Maria (Lach) Ukrainiec. At the age 20, she was made to leave her family and home in the Ukraine to work in forced labor. In 1946, she married her husband of almost 60 years, Theodore Luc (deceased March 19, 2006) in Austria. They came to the United States and eventually settled in Akron in 1947. Rose was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Her hobbies included making gorgeous Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter Eggs), endlessly baking bread and cookies and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Rosalia is survived by her children William (Marie) Luc of Stow, John (Susan) Luc of Hudson, Daniel (Mary) Luc of Spring, TX, Michael (Sharon) Luc of Canal Fulton, and Mary (Joe) Stotler of Jackson Twp. ; grandchildren Laurie (Doug) Connell, Paul (Tiffany) Luc, Christine (Phil) Bidinger, Stephen Luc, Denise (Scott) Clark, Eric Luc, Abigail (Robert) Hall, Meghan, Kaitlin and Ian-Michael Luc, Ceara Sonones, Shawnda (Doug) McCollum, and Heather and Emma Stotler; great grandchildren Karris, Kaden, Jaclyn, Michael, Zachary, Kendall, Mason, Jason, Austin, Ava, Samantha and Liam; siblings Katherine, Anna and Jane. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughters Rosie Luc and Carol Paris, siblings Mary, Joseph, Eugene and Walter. Funeral Services will be held Monday 9:30 am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron and 10:00 am at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Vsevolod Shevchuk officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 5 pm at the funeral home where a Parastas service will be held at 5:00 pm.
