Obituary of John Barg

"Together Again" John Lee (Jack) Barg went to be with his beloved wife Doris on June 23, 2017. Jack was born February 12, 1924 in Rochester, New York. He came to Akron after graduating from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science, Chemistry as Major degree. After working for a short time at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Jack accepted a position with Barefoot Sole Company where he worked for 34 years. Jack met and married the love of his life, Doris Marie Guessford. Married on January 27, 1951 they embarked on a lifelong adventure traveling throughout the United States and then going on cruises to explore the world, always side by side. Jack and Doris shared an enjoyment of square dancing, playing cards and Mahjong. Jack loved a variety of music, but Jazz was his very favorite. He possessed an extensive knowledge of both the performers and their works, enjoying listening to his collection often. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years Doris, his parents, his sister and brother-in-law. Jack is survived by three cousins in the Rochester, New York area and a number of friends both near and far. We would like to say "Thank You" to the staff at the Hospice Care Center for the kind and compassionate care they gave Jack during his stay there. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, Ohio 44301.
