Obituary of Frederick LaVerne Zenner
Frederick LaVerne 'The Vern' Zenner, 80, passed away February 27, in Akron.
Born on October 8, 1929 to the late Bennie and Ann Zenner in Manchester, OH, Fred had been a lifetime area resident. Vern worked for Bulso Trucking, retiring in 1980. He was a parishioner of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Fred was a member of the Jednota #553, Orioles South Akron Nest 167, and the Firestone PArk Prime Timers.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Ann in 2001; brothers Clarence, Charles, Raymond, Donald, Richard and Anthony; sister Anne. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred, with whom he would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on March 1st; sons Frederick G. (Beverly) & Stephan L. Zenner, both of Akron; brothers Lawrence, James, and David and sisters Alice and Shirley; beloved granddaughters Sarah (Zachary), Cassandra, Danah, Nikki, and Sara. Fred also leaves behind the apple of his eye, his great-grandson Nicholas, as well as special friends Albert Jordan, Lorna Helfrick, Karen Desheuquette, and Danny Haley and family.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church on Brown St. in Akron. Fr. Ralph Thomas officiating. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
