Rose Mary Kunzin
Rose Kunzin, 94, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2010 at Akron City Hospital
Born in Akron on November 28, 1915 to the late Steven and Ana Gerich, Rose had been a lifetime area resident. Rose was very proud of her Serbian Heritage. She was a faithful member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, where she was a member of the S.Z.Z. (Ladies Auxiliary), and was an original member of the Isidor Bajic Choir. Rose loved to sing and also enjoyed Serbian Kolo Dancing. She was able to continue dancing up until the last year of her life. Her joy of and love for dance brought happiness to many others.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband George in 1959; sister Nellie and nephew Steven. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Dan and Kathi and George and Carol, all of Akron; daughters and sons-in-law Dolly and Gary Lyttle of Florida and Sandy and Randy DeVaul of Las Vegas, NV; Rose also leaves behind to cherish her memory 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the caring staff and medical personnel at Summa Palliative Care for all of the compassion that was shown to Rose during her time there.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, where a Parastas will take place at 7:30 pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, where Rose will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Donations in Rose's memory may be made to the church.
