Obituary of Patricia Bauman Gritton

Patricia Bauman Gritton -CUYAHOGA FALLS Patricia Bauman Gritton, age 93, a Cuyahoga Falls resident who actively maintained a life long interest and involvement in her hometown, died December 31, 2009. She was the daughter of Paul A. and Nellie Bauman, founders and operators of Bauman Steel Rule Cutting Dies from 1927 until her father's death in 1957. She was the first Children's Librarian at Taylor Memorial Library from 1937 to 1957. Upon her father's death, Bob and Pat Gritton ran the family business from 1957 to 1983, when Bob died; Pat continued to run the business until her retirement in January of 1998. Mrs. Gritton was the only woman Cutting Die maker in the United States and was honored by the Marquis Who's Who in American Women and the World Who's Who for Women for outstanding achievement in her field. Her many civic interests included: local Girl Scout leader; board member of the Friends of Taylor Memorial Library; Cuyahoga Falls DAR; member of both Northampton and Cuyahoga Falls Historical Societies; life member of Beta Sigma Phi; National Travel Club; Cuyahoga Falls Camping Club; Cuyahoga Falls High School Alumni Association; National Rifle Association; on the Board of Broadcasters and Zonta. Preceded in death by her parents Paul and Nellie Bauman, husband Robert, her one and only love, sister Mary Ann Arnold, mother in law and father in law Eva and Jack Gritton. She is survived by her sister and brother in law Betty and Jim Hudkins, nephew Delmar Arnold, great nephew Ryley Arnold, brother in law and sister in law Keith and Ardis Vance and sister in law Norma Vance. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 pm at the McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home at Third St. one block North of Portage Trail, where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park at the convienience of the family. Memorials can be given to the Childrens Dept. of Taylor Memorial Library 2015 Third St. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
