Obituary of Melvina H Snyder
Melvina (Mollie) H. Snyder, 90, passed away at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls, on January 6, 2010, following a brief illness.
Born on March 30, 1919, in East Vandergrift, PA, she moved to Akron, OH when she was several months old. As a 1937 graduate of Central High School, she participated in the school choir, National Honor Society, and the Art Club.
During WWII, Mollie was employed by the Goodyear, assembling military aircraft for the government. After the end of the War, in 1946, she was hired by the B.F. Goodrich Company and worked as a secretary in the Chemical Lab for 30 years, until her retirement in June, 1976.
Mollie enjoyed a variety of interests, including ,sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, ceramics, drawing, painting, and flower gardening. She enjoyed her nephew and nieces, being generous with her time, talent, and treasures. She was a member of St. Martha Church for 25 years and a weekly interfaith Bible study for nearly 18 years.
Later in life, she had a brief marriage to Harold Snyder, beginning in May, 1995 and ending with his death in January, 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva (Slegus) and Antonias Smalukas; sisters, Rose (infant) and Mary Amelia Mihiylov; brother-in-law Louis Mihiylov; and husband Harold M. Snyder. She is survived by nephew Robert L. Mihiylov; niece Mary Anne Mihiylov; great-niece, Amanda Mihiylov and great, great-niece, Mikayla Mihiylov.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls, and Harbor Light Hospice for their excellent care.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish (formerly St. Martha Catholic Church). Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery. Donations may be made to Blessed Trinity Parish 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, OH 44310.
