Obituary of John Carl Bertsch
John Carl Bertsch, 84, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Care Center in Copley.
He was born in Richmond, Indiana and worked in Construction with Nicholson Lathing. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he also volunteered and Carpenters Union Local #639. John was an avid golfer and gardener and was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dagobert and Margaret Bertsch; and brother, Paul. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Loretta (Miller) Bertsch; sons, John Robert (Sharon), David J. (Patricia M.) and Andrew (Monica); brothers, Frank and Albert (Melody); sister, Margaret Whitehair; and grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel, Ellen and Alison.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. Cremation to follow with interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
