Obituary of Dorothy L. Smith

Dorothy L. Smith of Akron passed away at Pebble Creek, Wednesday afternoon December 30th 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Guy Smith, parents Charles and Virginia Pigg, brother's William, Charles, and sister's Margaret, Martha. Born in Elkton Kentucky on May 31,1922, she grew up in Akron, lived here her entire life, Graduated from South High School in 1941, she had been employed by General Tire for over 40 years retiring in 1982. After retiring she enjoyed working with her roses, and taking bus trips. She was a past member of the American Rose Society, and received several awards for her roses and for her Flowers and roses in her yard. She attended South Arlington Methodist Church. Dorothy is survived by son Donald (Sharon) of Akron, granddaughters Jennifer (Marshall Maxwell) of Ft Riley Ks, and Amanda (James Mowinski) of Northfield Center, Oh, grandson Paul Smith of Akron, great-grandsons Brannon and Donnell Maxwell and Tyler and Michael Mowinski, niece Laura (Jerry Price). The family would like to thank, the staff at Pebble Creek and Traditions At Bath Road Nursing Faculty's, and Odyssey Health Care Hospice. The family will receive friends Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Rev.
