Obituary of John C. Humphrey

John C. Humphrey, 85, passed away November 30, at Akron General Medical Center. Born on June 24, 1924 in Akron, OH to the late John & Pauline (Zellars) Humphrey, Chuck had been a lifetime area resident. He attended Garfield High School. Chuck was employed for over 35 years by Gougler Industries Inc. in Kent, retiring in 1986. He was a devoted member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; brother William and sister Rosemary Hershberger; grandson Ryan Greathouse. He is survived by his son Joe (Audrey) Humphrey and daughters Ramona (Greg Greathouse) Higgins, Darleen (Bob) Ross, and Sandy (Denny) Lance; brothers Richard and Paul, as well as 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
