Obituary of William Vrudny
Bill Vrudny, 85, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 12, 2009, after a long illness, with his stepdaughter at his side.
Bill was born on a farm in Apollo, PA, on Feb. 22, 1924, and later moved to Portage County. In '43 he was inducted into the Army's 10th Mountain Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism in WWII. After the war, Bill graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and was employed as a commercial artist. A kind, humble, giving man, Bill was loved by all. His passions were hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Alice. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Andrew and Julia Vrudny, siblings Julie Kimble, Pauline Vestrand, Mary Vestrand, and Andy Vrudny, and best buddy Don Close. He is survived by brother Milton Vrudny, numerous nephews and nieces, stepchildren Peggy Close and Duane Snyder, and 6 step grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, for visitation from 2pm-3pm, Sun. Nov. 22, with services at 3pm. Military rites will be conducted at Lakewood Cemetery, 1080 W. Waterloo Rd. on Monday, Nov. 23, at 1pm. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313
