Obituary of Mervin John Schaar

Mervin J. "Moe" Schaar, 84, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009. He was born in Kenmore and was an Akron area resident all of his life. He retired from IBM in 1987 after 32 years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Coventry Lodge and was a member of the Akron Crime Club. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He loved fishing, motorcycles and his home in Florida. He will be sadly missed not only by family and friends, but by many friends considered to be family that he met while living in Captains Harbor on Pine Island, Florida. Special thanks to Hospice of Summa, the Gardens of Western Reserve and to Dr. Winkhart. He was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Mazie (Campbell) Schaar; wife, Effie (Williamson) Schaar; and sister, Arlene. He is survived by son, Rusty (Debbie); daughter, Kathy (Bill) Moore; and three grandchildren. Cremation to take place. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS), where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment Friday 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Summa, the Gardens of Western Reserve or a charity of your choice.
