Obituary of Mary Kovachick
Mary Kovachick, 91 of Springfield Township, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Akron City Hospital. She was born in Akron and was a graduate of East High School. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where she served on parish council and was a regular worker at numerous festivals and peroghi workshops. She was past president and a devoted member of St. Nicholas Altar Aid and was a lifelong member of the Choir. She was also a "Rosie the Riveter" factory worker at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company during World War II. Special thanks to Pebble Creek Nursing Home and Akron City Hospital Third Floor Pallative Care Unit. She was preceded in death by parents, Kiril and Anna (Kovtko) Lizak; husband, John; and brothers, Nick, Steve and Paul Lizak. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Patty Kovachick; daughter and son-in law, Mary Ann and Dale Fraley; sisters-in-law, Mary and Helen Lizak; grandchildren, Steve (Jennifer) and Andy Kovachick, Melanie (Brad) Stewart, Kurtis (Melanie) Fraley and Meredith (James) Lawrence; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Mallory Kovachick - (Baba's Special Girls), Conner and Courtney Stewart and Ethan Fraley; and other nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where the body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Wyslutsky officiating. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS) where a Parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Cemetery Fund.
