Obituary of Martha Mae Wilson

Martha Mae Wilson Martha Mae Wilson, 88, went home to be with the Lord on July 21, at the Hickory Ridge Care Center in Akron. Born in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1921 to the late Friend and Martha Meek, Martha had been a Cuyahoga Falls/Stow resident since 1955. She was a longtime member of the former Christ Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls, where she sang in the choir, and had currently attended St. Mark Lutheran Church in Tallmadge. Martha worked for many years as a Red Cross volunteer at St. Thomas Hospital. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brother William. She is survived by her loving husband of over 68 years, James of Akron, formerly of Stow; sons and daughter-in-law Dale Wilson of Akron and William and Karen Wilson of Wadsworth; daughters Nelda Wilson of Cuyahoga Falls and Nancy Unruh of Mansfield; sisters Jean (Douglas) Avery and Betty (Wayne) Lutz; grandchildren Patrick, Sarah, Thomas, and Ted Wilson, Tracy Smith, Chandra Bramlett-Mitchell, McKenzie and Meredith Millward, Corinne Bettle, and Amy and Jennifer Unruh; 6 great-grandchildren and special young friend Anthony Ellis. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Hickory Ridge Care Center for the loving and attentive care of their wife and mother. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel (at 3rd st., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls), where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
