Obituary of Joe Vance Webb

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Joe Vance Webb, 94, passed away July 9, at Akron City Hospital after a short illness. Born in Madison-ville, Tenn. to the late Edward and Anna Webb on August 23, 1914, Joe had been a longtime resident of Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake. Joe founded the Independent Machine Co. in Cuyahoga Falls in 1954, and ran it until his retirement in 1976. Joe was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Brenda; as well as two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Yvonne of Cuyahoga Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph (Carol) Webb and daughter, Pam Webb; stepson, Greg and stepdaughter, Terri. Joe is also survived by five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel (at 3rd st., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls), where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. A private interment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
