Obituary of Leslie T. Kerr
Leslie T. Kerr, 83, died peacefully on June 9th 2009. He was born in Akron on June 10th, 1925. Mr. Kerr worked at Goodyear Aerospace and retired in 1985. He served in the army infantry in WWII and was a Prisoner of War in Germany. In 1948 he married Theresa Schiavone, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was a loving husband and a loving father to his two children. He enjoyed many hobbies including a love for sports and antique cars. Mr. Kerr was preceded in death by his mother and father, Madeline and Milton Matheny; his beloved grandmother, Laura Kerr; his loving daughter, Virginia Jean Speaks; and loving son, Joseph Kerr. He is suvived by his loving wife, Theresa; brother, Howard Matheny; his loving son-in-law, Joseph C Speaks Jr.; granddaughters, Leslie (Perry) Sass, Tracey (Ken) Allan, and Jodi (Vic) Carnathan; grandsons, Joseph (Stephanie) Speaks III, and Joseph R (Eileen) Kerr; Sisters-in-law, Mary Monago, Josephine DiMascio, and Rose Schiavone; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Thursday 4-8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery where military services will be held.
