Obituary of Mary Siwik

Mary Siwik, 100, Born to John and Tekla (Kraus) Dorosz, passed away April 19, 2009. Mary was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic parish in Akron, Ohio since 1921. She sang in the church choir (alto) for over 70 years. She was a weekly pyrohy maker, famous for her lemon pies and cheesecakes, and a forever volunteer in the church kitchen for which she received the Diocesan Bishop's Award. Mary made friends everywhere she went and touched the hearts of everyone she met. Every situation was a reason for a song; a song made bad times feel better and good times feel great. She very much enjoyed her years at Mount Alverna Village where she became part of the Century Club, and where the utmost care for and kindness to her prevailed to the last moment of her life here on earth on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 19th, 2009. Mary lived her life with the Holy Family in her heart and proclaimed to everyone that Jesus was her guide to a long life. Through Him her words and actions always spoke of love. She will be cherished by many in memory and prayer. Wife of Joseph (deceased). Sister of Julia, Anna, Anthony (all deceased) and Sophie Kaminski (Walter-deceased). Loving Mother of Patricia Romanovich (Paul-deceased) and Judith. Devoted Grandmother to Paula Lawson (Ward), Gregory Romanovich (Lisa), Jeffrey Romanovich-deceased (Denise Yeager (David), and Martin Romanovich (Cynthia). Great Grandmother to Matthew, Katy, Jackie, Steven and Robby Lawson, Nikki (Lawson) Hagerman, Matthew, Evan, Alexandria, Larissa, and Alicia Romanovich, Matthew (deceased), Mitchell, and Maxwell Leibsla. Great-great-grandmother to Courtney, Logan, and Chase. Dear Aunt to Richard (Barbara) Siwik, and Dennis Siwik. "Nanny Doris" to Judy, Annie, and Billy. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel 1990 S. Main St., where a Parastas will be held at 7:30 pm.
