Mary (Genaro) Raymer
Mary C. Raymer, 82, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley after advancing dementia caused her to refuse food. She exsisted on tubal feeding for several months. Her dementia continued to advance. She was removed from tubal feeding and entered the Hospice Center on March 27.
Born in Akron on April 20, 1927, Mary had been a lifetime area resident. She began working as an executive secretary for Monsano Chemical in Akron and was later employed by Matt Hall Public Relations.She was also employed part-time by the University of Akron, after her husband had become employed there. Mary was a former member of the 1st Congregational Church of Akron. She worked as a volunteer for the Akron Civic Theatre and the Akron Children's Hospital Foundation. Mary was also a member of the Firestone Park Y-Mothers.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey in 2008. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, George of Akron. Daughter and son-in-law Christina and Richard Flora of Green; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Maryann Genaro of Tallmadge; grandchildren Thomas and Julie Raymer and Erik, Adam, and Amy Flora. Mary is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel 1990 S. Main St. in Akron (5 blocks north of Waterloo Rd.). A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter 1815 W. Market St. Suite 301 Akron, Ohio 44313.
