Obituary of Jon L. Apati

Jon L. Apati Jon L. Apati, 67, of Akron, passed away March 28, 2009. Born on August 18, 1941 to the late Louis J & Ruth (Deckard) Apati. He leaves his wife of 44 years June (Beckwith) Apati; son and daughter-in-law Jon J. and Jackie Apati; daughter Joanna L. Perry and 3 grandsons; brother Richard (Karen) of Myakka, FL. He graduated from South High School where he was on the swim team and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Akron as a medical technologist, where he is also an alumni of the TKE fraternity. He retired after 30 years from Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, where he worked as a second shift supervisor, helped conduct research, and where he installed the first computer in the laboratory. Jon was very active in golf and bowling leagues at Children's Hospital, as well as the corporate challenges and walk-a-thons. He retired after 7 years from the City of Akron Department of Health. He enjoyed family vacations (he especially loved traveling in the southern US and Canada), camping, and cooking family dinners. The family will receive friends TODAY from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
