Obituary of Wanda Childress

Wanda Childress, 81 passed away peacefully on March 11 at Maison Aine Alzheimer's Facility. To know Wanda was to love her. She was extremely sweet and caring and loved to laugh. She was a wonderful mother who gave unconditionally to her children. She worked at Hallmark Card stores for 31 years beginning at Nola's Hallmark at Akron Square and the remainder of her career at Rolling Acres Mall, she was a loyal and enthusiastic employee, her customers would come in just to say hello and she treated them like beloved friends. She loved seeing that gold crown so much that if her grandchildren made her a card, they would color the gold crown on the back because they knew her habit was to flip a card over to verify. Of course, we couldn't surprise her with a card, she would open it up and remark that it was one of her favorites before she even read it. The absolute pride and joy of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. True happiness to mom was the holidays and family affairs where her children and grandchildren would get loud and rowdy, she loved more than anything seeing us laugh and have fun as a family. She cherished these moments and her presence from these events this past year has been greatly missed. We want to thank the numerous caregivers that have touched mom's life during her decline due to Alzheimer's disease, the staff at Mulberry Gardens, Gardens of Western Reserve and Maison Aine. There is a special place in heaven for each of you. Preceded in death by husband, Lester; survived by the pride of her life, her children; Jerry (Helen) Childress, David (Cheryl) Childress, Steve (Cindy) Childress, Laura (Pete) Casenhiser, Rhonda Moye, Michael Childress. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren who loved spending time with her. Donna (Kevin) Burns, Virginia (Chris) Gay, Missy Childress, Steven (Rachel) Childress, Stacee (Robert) Mikolich, Valerie (Doug) Ambrose, Chad (Andrea) Moye, Erin (Bill) Badurina, Jackie Moye, and David Casenhiser and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 4pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDRESS) where a Service of Remembrance will be held Sunday at 4 pm. Private interment will be held Monday at East Liberty Cemetery.
