Obituary of Richard Gale Babb
Richard Gale Babb, 68, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family, on January 16, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley.
Born in Akron on August, 17 1940, Gale had been a lifetime Cuyahoga Falls resident. He was a 1959 graduate of Hoban High School and also attended Kent State University. Gale was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Gale was an insurance agent and, along with his wife Virginia, the co-owner of R. Gale Babb Insurance Co. Since 1978. He was an avid gardener, who loved planting flowers and caring for his fruit trees and also loved taking care of his swimming pool during the summer. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Gale also had a wonderful sense of humor.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Grace Babb. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Virginia, of Cuyahoga Falls; sons and daughters-in-law Murray and Nicki Babb of Fort Smith, AR, Michael and Millie Babb of Cuyahoga Falls, and Bob and Amanda Babb of Greensburg, PA; sister Carole Babb of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren Andrea (Justin) Baker, and Aaron, Rory, Nicholas, Amy, Holly, Brady, Kayley, Noah, Griffin, and Lilian Babb; great-grandson Ashton Baker; niece Grace Carroll and nephews Stephen (Elizabeth) and Dennis (Amy) Carroll; great-nephew Alexander Carroll, as well as many other extended family members, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends TODAY from 4-7 pm at the McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home (at 3rd st., one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gale's memory may be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service 3358 Ridgewood Rd. Akron, OH 44333.
